INDICATORS OF T- LEARNING When tracking t-learning, we found it useful to further distill the analysis of 1. Expressions of collective action 2. Resistance, disruption as an expression of agency Expressions of agency as: 1) Resistance, 2) Being Critical, 3) Concept of something new, 4) Little Actions, 5) Reframing narratives 3. Transformation of Power Relations (power here includes also the power of new actions, i.e. the example of women starting their own community food garden and the new power that space affords them). 4. Invisible changes or absences: Invisible here refers to feeling something unspoken or something that is not there. What is not being said? There might also be cultural norms, taboos, common knowledges that are not expressed as they are obvious in a context, but the researcher might be unaware of this common knowledge. 5. Problem solving and the development of new skills: The expression of new skills/capabilities, or transformed skills 6. Boundary crossing: Transgressing norms. Here we track boundary crossing to see if it leads to transgressing the norms in the context. However, boundary crossing does not necessarily lead to transgressing the norm. Signs of tension and conflict might be important in identifying learning in boundary crossing. E.g. of the Zimbabwe sugar cane farmers who started focusing on the health of their soil, and diversified their crops and crossed a major boundary in what they planted and how. 7. Reframed narratives 8. Narrative expressions: Stories of Transformation, and stories of stories. 9. “Ah-Ha!” moments – signs of reflexivity 10. Little changes and if, how they extend or expand Some key signs of learning that shows people creating a world that is easier to love and live in together: Signs of crossing inner boundaries (perception changes) Signs of conflict/tension Signs of conviction Signs of empathy Signs of attentiveness Signs of listening/attentiveness Signs of creativity, innovation, imagination Signs of intuitive action (acting or trusting one’s intuition) Signs of new friendships Signs of a sense of purpose
